
Paul Jordan
Sensai : 6th Dan
Sensei Paul began Judo on 18th September 1982 at the age of 19 and has dedicated over four decades to the art. Since October 1985, he has led the 61 Judo Club Amersham, originally taking charge as a 1st Kyu. Under his leadership, the club has become a respected hub for Judo development, producing a significant number of Dan grades and British squad members across all competitive levels, pre-cadet, cadet, junior, and senior.
A 6th Dan and an expert in Kata, Sensei Paul has been a member of the British Judo Association Kata Commission for the past four years. He teaches all seven Kodokan Kata as well as Gonosen-no-kata, running weekly Kata sessions at his club and regular Kata courses across the Northern Home Counties and beyond. His Kata teams have competed internationally, with several achieving gold at global events. In recognition of his contribution to Kata, he received the British Judo Association Kata Award in 2022.

Jenny Smith
2nd Dan
Jenny started judo at the age of 10 and has won medals twice at the Schools World Championships and has represented Great Britain.
Jenny now coaches the juniors class bringing years of competative experience and a clear, practical approach to teaching. Her focus is on helping young judoka build solid fundamentals and confidence on the mat.

Tom Lind
1st Dan
Tom started his judo journey in 2022 and earned his competitive 1st Dan in 22 months. He qualified as a Level 1 coach in 2023. Tom loves competing, training and coaching judo to the juniors.

Kevin Hazell
1st Dan
Kevin began his Judo journey in 2018 and earned his 1st Dan in June 2025. A standout in Kata and one of the club’s top technical coaches, Kevin plays a key role in developing both junior and senior players at 61 Judo Club.
For nearly four years, Kevin has been actively coaching across all levels within the club, helping members sharpen their skills and reach personal milestones. His strengths lie in groundwork (ne-waza) and competition-focused techniques, making him a valuable asset on the mat and a strong influence on the club’s competitive edge.
